South Asian women struggles are many including:
- Abuse (verbal, physical and sexual)
- Dowry requirements
- Acid
- Forced Marriages
- Honour Killings
- Stress
- Online dating scams
- Abortion of girls
- Child marriages
- Human trafficking
- Basic rights to have a child, literacy and pursuing a career of their own choosing
Considering things that we take for granted in developed countries:
- Being able to go out wearing whatever we please as long as it is decent
- Choosing to travel
- Eat or drink what we please
- Have friends and socialize
- Pursue a career of our choosing
- Enjoy our own hobbies
- Own a business
- Drive
- Get further education
- Letting fresh breeze go through our hair
- Having the sunlight touch our bare skin
The later list sounds so insignificant considering South Asian women struggles in the world.
The purpose to include such blogs are to start a dialogue and create a place for South Asian women to voice their concerns and offer possible solutions.
