Rise And Rise Again Till Lambs Becomes Lions
Rise And Rise Again Till Lambs Becomes Lions.
I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest movement for freedom in the history of our South Asian culture.
Today, as a great South Asian, we declare to get our women to be self-sufficient. This momentous decree comes as a great beacon light of hope to millions of South Asian women who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It comes as a cheerful crack of dawn to end the long night of their imprisonment.
Majority of South Asian women still are not free. The life of the South Asian woman is sadly crippled by the manacles of patriarchy and the chains of discrimination. The South Asian woman lives on a lonely island of silence in the midst of a vast ocean of opportunity. The South Asian woman is still languishing in the corners of South Asian society and finds herself an exile in her own land. So we have arise here today to put this disgraceful situation into dramatic form.
In a sense we have come to South Asian Women Network TV (sawntv.com) to cash a check. When the architects of the human rights of women wrote the magnificent words, they were signing a promissory note to which every human being was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all women, yes, South Asian women as well as other women, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
It is obvious today that human beings have defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of women are concerned. Rather of admiring this hallowed duty, People have provided the South Asian women a bounced check, a check which has come back marked “inadequate funds.” But we denied to trust that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We denied to believe that there are inadequate funds in the great dome of opportunity of this nation state. So we have come to cash this check — a check that will gift us beyond command the riches of privilege and the safety of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind human beings of the fierce urgency of now. This is not the medium to engage in the magnificence of cooling off or to take the comforting drug of regeneration. Now is the time to make real the promises of independence. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of oppression to the sunlit path of gender justice. At the moment it is the time to uplift our nation from the dirt of gender inequality to the bedrock of sorority. Now is the time to make equality & fairness a reality for all of the people without any gender inequality.
It would be mortal for the country or nation to leave the seriousness of the concern. This sweltering summer of the South Asian women’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. 2012 is not an conclusion, but a dawn to a new conception. Those who hope that the South Asian women needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in the world until the South Asian woman is granted her human rights. The hurricane of rebel will carry on
with shaking the base of our nation up until the bright future of justice come to appearance.
But there is some point that I must want to indicate my people who stand on the warming doorsteps which open up into the palace of magistrate. In the procedure of obtaining our lawful place we must not be responsible of unjust deeds. Let us not look for to please our crave for freedom by consuming from the plate of harshness and resentment.
We must always perform our scuffle on the greater level of divinity and regulation. We must not permit our ingenious protest to degrade into physical severity. Again and again we must level up to the elevated peaks of assembling bodily force with inspirational force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the South Asian community must not lead us to a distrust of all men, for many of our men, as evidenced by their appearance at this moment today, have come to discern that their doom is tied up with our doom. They have come to discern that their freedom is inevitably leap to our privilege. We cannot walk alone.
As we walk, we must make the decision that we will forever walk along & ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of women rights, “When will you be satisfied?” We can never be well pleased because the women is the sufferer of the untold terrors of barbarity. We can never be satisfied, as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of maltreatment, cannot gain access to support and resources. We cannot be satisfied as long as the woman’s basic mobility is in home. We can never be well pleased because children are barred of their character and steal of their divinity by uttering words like “Not for you”. We cannot be satisfied as long as a woman cannot drive, work and a woman believes he has nothing for which to live for. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.
I am not careless that some of you have arise here out of great arrays and adversities. Some of you have come firm from tapered detention cell Some of you have arise from district where your search for freedom left you striked by the trouble of victimization and astonished by the hurricane of police wickedness. You have been the victim of creative agonizing. carry on to work with the belief that not deserved bearing is compensative.
Go back to your life, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Allow us not slosh about in the valley of hopelessness.
I express to you now, my companions, so even though we bear the storms of present and afterwards, I still have a vision. It is a vision extremely embedded in the human dream.
I have a dream that one some this land will stand again and fight for the the true meaning of its faith: “We detain these truths to be clear: that all men and women are created equal.”
I have an ambition that one day on the all levels women and men will be able to sit down together at the table of equality.
I have an ambition that someday even the land of Mississippi, a state stifling with the heat of inequity, with the heat of violation, will be changed into a harbor of justice and equality.
I have a fantasy that my 4 kids will someday live on a land where they will not be considered by the tone of their skin but by the heart of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be elevated, every mountain shall be made down, the uneven places will be made flat, and the curved places will be made even, and the blessings of the God shall be expressed, and all people shall see it together.
This is our hope. With this believe we will be up to cut out of the mountain of torture into a stone of hope. With this faith we will be up to the change cracking mess of our land into a great coherence of fellowship. With this believe we will be up to work along, to pray along, to struggle along, to go to jail along, to fight for freedom alongr, knowing that we will be independent along some day.
This is the day when all of people of the nation will be able to sing with a new definition, “My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my mother died, land of the pilgrim’s pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.”
And if South Asia is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of Kashmir. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of K2. Let freedom ring from the heightening Afghanistan!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of !
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of !
But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of !
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of !
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this occurs, when we let privilege to ring, when we let it ring from every rural area and every bourge, from every country and every state, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, women and men, Hindus and Muslims, Christians and Sikhs, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old spiritual, “Free at last! free at last! thank you God Almighty, we are independent at last!
